Visit Terracotta Warriors Located around 50 km east of Xian city, Terracotta Warriors Museum is the number one of top things to do in Xian.
The entry ticket covers three pits of terracotta warriors & horses, the exhibition room of unearthed cultural relics, the exhibition hall of bronze chariots and horses, as well as the Mausoleum of Qin Shihuang.
The pottery figurines and pottery horses were originally painted, but due to subsequent burning and soaking, most of them have peeled off and changed color.
The shuttle bus within attractions is also included in the ticket.

Terracotta Warriors Museum are available via Xian private tour, join in group tour, package tour, one day tour, layover tour or even a half day tour. But half day tour makes the visiting time very limited.
Shaanxi History Museum visiting Located in downtown Xian, you can find most of the top level culture relics of Xian and Shaanxi Province.
The museum are must visit attractions for local travelers and foreigners, which makes the museum crowded at most time of a day.
Except the normal exhibition hall, there is a Mural Hall of Tang Dynasty, which keeps very previous mural from Tang Dynasty. But it needs extra 50 USD per person.
The museum is suggested to be visited after lunch, to avoid the heat of Summer.
Visit the first landing place of Buddhism - Big Wild Goose Pagoda. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda was built in Dacien Temple in Tang Dynasty, around 1500 years ago. The temple was built by Emperor TangGaozong in memorial of his merciful mother - the famous Empress Zhangsun.

The Big Wild Goose Pagoda was built to store and translate the buddhist scriptures from Tianzhu by Xuanzang.
The statue of Xuanzang stands in the south square of Big Wild Pagoda.

Today, only the Big Wild Goose Pagoda stand in the downtown area of Xian. It is one of the landmark of this ancient city.

There is a big square north of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, and there is fountain show in the evening. You may find local people enjoy their leisure time in the square.
There are two gardens located at both sides of the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. You may find many local art and custom elements in the garden. You can't believe, these two gardens are quiet at most of the time, while many travelers crowded in the Big Wild Goose Pagoda.

Xian Tour Tips

Take a light hiking or biking on Xian Ancient City Wall. Being the best reserved ancient city wall, Xian City Wall was built in Ming Dynasty based on the basis of Tang Dynasty Imperial City. The existing city wall is around kilometers long including wall, city gate, moat, and turret.
There are eight gates to board the city wall, Changle Gate(east), Yongning Gate (south), Anding Gate (West gate), Anyuan Gate (north), Hanguang Gate, Wenchang Gate, Heping Gate and Shangde Gate.
It is available to take a light hiking (14 km) around the city wall, it is a good method to take a bird view of the old Xian city.
Biking is also available on City Wall, but the road on the wall is not very smooth. Bike is only available at Changle, Yongning, Anding and Anyuan Gate.

Traveling Mt.Hua Being one of the most famous five mountains of China, Mt.Hua is around 90 km north of Xian City.
The mountain covers 5 famous peaks: East Peak, West Peak, South Peak, North Peak and Central Peak. Central Peak is a must pass place when you visit other four peaks. A Taoist Temple (Yunv Taoist Peak ) was built on the central peak.

It is available to take cable car to reach the summit of the mountain from the west entrance or north entrance. Most travelers take west cable car to the summit of the mountain, and then take north cable care to get down the mountain. This visiting routes covers many sightseeing points, and you don't need get back to the start point.
West cable car for up and down is suggested if you travel with kids or elders.

For sure you can reach the top of the mountain on foot from the west entrance. It is 9567 steps, around 12.5 km. Most travelers needs 4 hours to reach the summit of the mountain.
Taste Chinese dumpling in various shape and color Dumpling is a kind of traditional food of China. Most dumlings in China is normal dumpling in white color. But it is available to taste unique dumpling in different color and shape.
