Must visit places
If your time in Xian is limited, include the following attraction by sequence.
- Terracotta Warriors : Located around 50 km east of Xian city, Terracotta Warriors Museum is the 8th wonder of the world. You may find the unbelieveable grand of the first emperor in ancient China. The tickets is suggested to be reserved in advance to save the waiting time in line.
- Xian Ancient Wall : Ancient City Wall of Xian was built in Ming Dynasty. This is the best preserved ancient city wall of China.
- Shaanxi Provincal Historical Museum : This is one of the first museums of China. It is available to discover the long history of Xian, Shanxi Provice and even all China.
- Big Wild Goose Pagoda : Being the first landing place of Buddhism, Big Wild Goose Pagoda is the land mark of Xian.

Other classic attractions of Xian
If you have enough time in Xian, the following attractions can be included in your itinerary.
Stele Museum, Small Wild Goose Pagoda, Xian Museum, Huaqing Pool, Banmo Museum, Mt.Hua, Local Village ( Dangjia Village ) Qianling Mausoleum, Hanyangling Mausolium, Famen Temple, Great Mosque,
Small Wild Goose Pagoda and Xian Museum is located in the sam courtyard. You may replace Big Wild Goose Pagoda and Shanxi History Museum with these two places during local public holiday, to aviod the crowds.

3 to 5 days traveling time
Most travelers visit Xian within 3 to 5 days.
Day 1. Reach Xian with flight or train. After checking in hotel, you can visit one or two attractions in downtown, such as Shaanxi History Museum and Big Wild Goose Pagoda. These two places present you the brief history of Xian.
Day 2. Today we need to drive 50 km to visit the Terracotta Warriors and Horses.
On the way back, you can visit Huaqing Pool or Banpo Museum. If you have a 3rd day in Xian and interested in Xian history, then we can visit Qianling Mausoleum and Xianyang Museum. The highlights of the day is discovering the mausoleum of thousands of years ago while listing to the history and story from tour guide.
The 4th day can be arranged on visiting of Mt.Hua, which offers you an amazing mountain and cliff view.
Most travelers choose to departure on the morning of 3rd 4th or 5th day.
Small part of travelers drive to north to Hukou Waterfall on Huanghe River and visit the revolution based - YanAn. You should be here if you had read 'Red Star Over China' by Edgar Snow. He recorded a part of life or legend around 1939.

Put your hotel within Ancient City Wall
Xian is not a huge city, but you are still suggested to stay in downtown area, for example, within the city wall.
Sightseeing of Xian mainly focused on history and culture. Staying within city wall is helpful to feel these two aspects of this city.
And it is easy for you to wonder around your hotel to find a local restaurant or cafe after daytime sightseeing.
Compared with Beijing and Shanghai, the hotel price of Xian is not high. Then a 4 star or 5 star hotel is suggested.
Include breakast in your hotel, it is not very easy for a foreigners to find place for breakfast on the monning.

If you visit Xian witin one day
If your time in Xian is limited within one day, then we suggest you to visit Terracotta Warriors on the morning, and then visit Shaanxi History Museum. If there is enough time, you can visit Ancient Wall.

The speed train is only suggested in shoulder or low season, because the train tickets is hard to get during Chinese public holiday.
