Built in 1991, Xian Xianyang International Airport is laocated in Xianyang City, 47 kilometers northwest of Xian City. It is the biggest transportation hub in Northwest China. In 2014, Xi'an Xianyang International Airport served a total of 29,260,200 passengers, making it the busiest airport in northwest China and the 8th busiest in mainland China.

Terminals

Covering an area of 450,000 square meters, Xi'an Xianyang International Airport has 3 terminals. Terminals 1 had been closed in 2012 after the openess of Terminals 3. Terminals 2 operates the most domestic flights departing and arriving at Xian. It includes the underground floor, the Arrival Hall on the 1st Floor, the Departure Hall on the 2nd Floor and the Interlayer with eight arrival gates.
Terminal 3 and the second 3800-meter runway were opened on 3 May 2012. It operates some domestic and all international flights. This terminal can handle 22 million passengers a year.
There are shuttles between T2 and T3 running from 8:30-20:00. The shuttles depart every 15 minute and take about 5 minutes from one building to the other. They can be found near Departure Gate 17 in T2 and Transit Center in T3.
