  • Flight

    Flight is the best Choice when travelers take a tour in Cina. There are many flights between popular tourism city of China, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Chengdu, Lhasa, Urumchi, Qingdao, Dalian, Kunming, Zhengzhou... There are only few flights between Xian and Guilin, although both cities are very popular in China tour.

    Almost all airlines offers E tickets in China. Travelers may take passport to check in airport. We still suggest travelers to print the flight itinerary or store it in your laptop as a remainder.

  • Train and Railway Station

    Train

    Part of travelers, especially European travelers, prefer to take train to travel China. Current train in China covers three types.
    The 1st type is old train in Green color. This kind of train is slow, only available between small cities now.
    The 2nd type of train is designed for the convenience of travelers, most train start with 'Z'. Such as the overnight train from Beijing to Xian 'Z19' and Xian to Beijing 'Z20'. This kind of train is comparatively fast and comfortable. Beijingservice.com can arrange soft sleepers on the train; we even can get a private cabin when necessary.
    This kind of overnight train save one night room accommodation for travelers.

    Hard Sleeper and Soft Sleeper are both available on above two trains
    Hard Sleeper Train: There are 6 berths in one cabin. No door in each cabin.
    Soft Sleeper Train: There are 4 berths in each cabin. Door can be locked from inside.

    The 3rd type of train in China is called bullet train or fast train. The bullet train becomes the new element in China tour. Many travels come to China to try the bullet train. Compared with old train, the bullet train is very fast, which save much time for travelers. For example, it only needs around 4 to 5 hours from Beijing to Xian.

    Passport copy of travelers and deposit is needed at least one month in advance when you need travel agent to arrange train ticket.
    The tickets stat to sell around 30 days before departure date. The train tickets can be delivered to your hotel reception or be picked up from train station.
    There is no discount on China train, and the ticket is not so easy to be booked.


    Train Station

    There are two train stations in most tourism cities. The old train station is located in downtown for old style train; another one is new train station, most of them are out of downtown for speed bullet train.
    Part of big city have more than two train station, for example Beijing has south station, north station west station and Beijing station (central station). Please reconfirm your tour advisor which station your train departure from.

    After the train reach station, please follow other travelers to walk out station to find tour guide or driver if you reserved a transfer, because tour guide is not permitted to enter train station to pick up travelers now.

    Part of train station has more than one exit, for example the Beijing West Station. It is hard to walk back to the right exit after you walk out the station.
    Please leave at least extra one hour if you need to pick up train tickets from train station before departure train. There are always plenty of travelers in train station of China.
    There are many hotels near train station. Beijingservice do not suggest hotel in this location unless you need to take departure train of early next morning.
    Travelers need to reach train station at least one hour before departure time of train.

  • Hotel

    Hotel in China covers deluxe 5 star hotel to inexpensive hostel or even dorm. Beijingservice suggest 3 star to 5 star hotel for a China tour.
    If you are on a family travel to China, a 3 star hotel is safe and clean with good location. If you prefer the hotel bigger with better hardware or more facilities such as Gymnasium, then a 4 star hotel need to be reserved. 5 star hotel should be used if you prefer to have a hotel with swimming pool.
    Part of travelers prefer to reserve their own hotel, which is also possible. But please make sure your hotel is located in downtown are of the city. We did picked up a family from a hotel around 90 km from downtown.

    Almost all hotels in China needs deposit upon checking in the hotel. The deposit will be refund when you check out after deducting the expense in hotel. The deposit can be paid via cash or credit card. And it takes sometime for the fund back to your card.

    There are two bottles of water for free in most hotels. Other water or goods needs to be paid.

    Please ask a hotel voucher or name card from reception when you out of hotel with local tour guide. Local taxi driver can transfer you back to hotel when necessary.

    Most 3 to 5 star hotel offers dinning service, part of the dishes are expensive outside, but most food in hotel are better than outside.

    The hotel room in China need to be reserved in advance. Please make reservation at least 3 month in advance if you have more than 5 rooms. Most of our travel agents book group room of peak season around 6 to 12 month before check in date.

  • Vehicle

    The vehicle in China covers 5 seats sedan, 7 to 15 seats van, 17 to 22 seats mini bus, and 33 to 55 seats tour coach.
    The 5 seats car can be used for 1 to two travelers, 7 to 15 seats van can be used for 3 to 8 travelers, 17 to 22 seats mini bus can be used for 9 to 15 travelers, 33 to 55 seats tour coach can be used for 16 to 35 travelers. All vehicles are equipped with air conditioning. Most vehicle was produced within 5 years and in very good condition. A bigger vehicle is needed when you arrive at airport with luggage, please update your tour advisor when you have much luggage.

    The sightseeing and car usage often start at around 08:30 and will be completed before 17:00.
    Most vehicle cost is based on 8 hours and and 100 miles within downtown area. Please contact tour advisor when you plan to visit suburb area or need more time.

  • Driver

    Most drivers are very familiar with China local attractions, restaurants and hotel. Travelers can reach each attraction at the shortest time.
    It is different driver in each city of China. All drivers only do their job in one city, except two adjacent cities, such as Shanghai and Suzhou. Driver can transfer clients from Shanghai to Suzhou and then take sightseeing.
    Most drivers do not speak English. An English speaking tour guide is necessary when you need communicate with driver.
    The driver and vehicle needs extra cost when your flight reach China very early on the morning and very late in the evening.
    Part of driver needs extra cost if travelers needs driver to catch a sign and pick up from waiting hall of airport or exit of train station. This is because the driver need to stop the car in parking lot, which is very expensive in Hong Kong and Shanghai.
    Driver know the road and traffic condition on tour date, please follow the advice of driver when there is traffic jam.
    Tips to driver is necessary at the end of each day or the package.

  • Guide

    English speaking tour guide is necessary if you prefer to have colorful and fluent tour in China.
    Travelers needs to reserve English speaking tour guide in advance, as early as possible. Sometimes, it is not available when travelers reserve tour guide one or two days before tour date.
    For other language speaking tour guide, such as French, Germany, Spanish or Italy speaking tour guide, we suggest travelers to reserve at least 2 month in advance.
    Most tour guide know every details of the city, please communicate with tour guide when you need information of the city.
    Tips to tour guide is necessary in China.
    Many sightseeing tour start from 08:00am on the morning and end at around 17:00 in the afternoon. Extra cost is needed when you need tour guide lead you to dinner or evening show.
    Travelers may request the gender of tour guide, all tour operator will do their best to arrange, but no guarantee, especially in some small cities.
    In part of non-tourism cities, there is no professional English speaking tour guide, part of the job will be done by English Speaking teacher. Please don't expect they are so professional as a formal tour guide, but most of them are very kind and helpful.

  • Admission fee

    Almost all China tour package covers admission fe. This admission fee refers to the first entry tickets of the place. Cable car and battery car are not included unless specified.
    Part of attractions covers some small museum or spots needs second (extra) tickets, which needs to be paid by travelers on spot if you prefer to enter to have a visit.
    The admission fee will be refund when there is traffic jam and part of places can not visited.

    Part of admission needs to be reserved in advance, such as Forbidden City, Mogao Grottoes, Potala Palace, etc. A scanned copy of passport and deposit is needed if you need us to make reservation.

    Most entry tickets are only available for one entry. It can not be used again when you walk out.
    Some attractions make the entry tickets available for two or three days if the attraction is very big, or many travelers go there for sunrising.
    Such as the admission fee is available within 3 days because the attraction is too big; tickets of Jinshanling Great Wall can be used again when you aboard the Great Wall for sunrising.

  • Food and Restaurant

    The food in China taste different with the one you accustomed in your country, which is also a kind of traveling experience.
    If you are picky on food, it is better to talk about this with your tour advisor or tour guide in advance.

    Most big or modern restaurant provides bilingual menu; while small traditional restaurant only provide Chinese menu. You can't believe, some unimpressive little restaurant provides very good food, so, sometimes it worth an advantage.

    Breakfast

    If you booked a package tour, the breakfast is included in hotel; if you arrange hotel room on your own, we suggest you included the breakfast.
    Generally speaking, the breakfast start from 06:30 to 07:00, and the breakfast end at around 08:00-09:00, which is different in each hotel.
    Travelers may have breakfast before being pick up from hotel.
    Most breakfast of 3-5 star hotel in main tourism city of China are buffet style. Travelers may pick up the food as they like.

    Some 2 star or hostel provides Chinese style breakfast, such as cooked dishes, eggs, buns and rice porridge.

    It is a must to inform the reception of hotel if your need a very early breakfast to connect flight. The hotel will prepare breakfast box. The packaged breakfast is very simple, em, it is better than none.

    Lunch

    Simple lunch is included in sightseeing trip if you booked a package tour or a day tour. Most lunches are arranged on the way to next attraction, which save time for travelers. Local restaurant and tourism restaurant are both available. You may communicate with tour guide on lunch flavor you favored in advance, if you booked a private tour.
    The request need to be informed to tour advisor if you need Indian, Muslim or deluxe lunch, which affects the tour price as well.

    Dinner

    Most China tour products do not include dinner, which give a chance to discover local dish on your own and make the tour less expensive.
    Travelers may discover a restaurant near or in hotel. Most 3-5 star hotel provides very good local dish, although the price is a little higher than outside.

    Chinese style dinner with local flavor is possible to included in China tour package upon request, or you may arrange the delicious dinner on your own. The famous flavor include Roast Duck Dinner in Beijing, Local cuisine in Shanghai, Yangroupaomo in Xian, Hot Pot dinner and Imperial style dinner.

  • Tipping

    Chinese do not tip with each other, but inbound tourism is different. Most tour guide and driver expect tips from travelers.
    At the same time, most western travelers prefer to give tips to tour guide and driver, just like they did in their own country.

    If FIT travelers (1-9 travelers) need a tips suggestion, 5 to 30 USD per day to tour guide, and 5 to 20 USD to driver. If you really do not want to tip, no problem, guide and driver will think you come from Netherlands. :) And tour guide and driver love travelers from Netherlands, because they are gentle, kind and smiling.

    Some western travelers write article to state they are forced to tip; the two possibility: they picked wrong travel agent, or travel agent picked wrong tour guide. It is necessary to let your tour advisor to know the truth, in China or after you back to your country.

    Part of travelers prefer to include the tips to driver and tour guide in package; but most travelers prefer to pay cash on spot.
    If you join in a tour group from your hometown, the tips amount will be claimed before you sign up. This kind of tip is included in the tour cost calculation, which can not be skipped.

  • Airport

    There is airport almost in each tourism city of China. And part of big cities have two or more airports. Such as there are three airports in Beijing: Beijing Capital International Airport, Daxing Airport and Nanyuan Airport. There are two airports in Shanghai, Pudong Airport and Hongqiao Airport. IT is important to make sure which airport your flight departure from when you take taxi to airport.

    There are many hotels near airport, which is convenient for travelers to change flight of early next morning. Most airport hotel offers free shuttle bus between airport and hotel, please inform hotel reception of your flight, the hotel will make a morning call, but it is better to see time on your own.

    The restaurants are available in airport, although the price is more expensive than downtown area.

    In big tourism city, there are taxi, shuttle bus and subway between airport and downtown. Only shuttle bus and taxi are available in small cities. Taxi is the most convenient way to reach airport.
    When travelers take taxi to airport, please reach airport 3 hours in advance if you take international flight; two hours in advance is necessary when you take domestic flight.
    If you take a package tour, driver and guide will take care the pick up time.

  • Cruise Port / Pier

    Many travelers come to travel China with international cruise ship. Most ship dock at Guangzhou, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Qingdao, Tianjin (Beijing) and Dalian. The cruise ship in Guangzhou, Kong Kong, Qingdao and Dalian is not far from downtown.
    Tianjin Xingang Port is around 1 hour driving from Tianjin and 2.5 hours from Beijing. Please consider the double way transfer between cruise port and attractions.
    There are two cruise port in Shanghai, one is called Huishan Port, which is located near downtown. Another one is Waigaoqiao port or Baoshan Port, whichh is around 1.5 hours to downtown Shanghai.

  • Shopping

    There are two kinds of Shopping places when you travel China.

    The first one is called tourism shopping. This kind of shopping is mainly for travelers. Your tourism vehicle stop at this tourism shopping place when you are told you reserved a normal shopping tour. For most of the time, you need to spend 40 minutes in the shopping place. Many travelers call this tourism trap; actually it is not a bad place, unless you reserved too cheap tours. If you reserved a tour from a licensed company, then please don't worry, because the shopping place is licensed by China tourism bureau. The goods in this kind of licensed shopping place are good. And some of them are very good. Most of the shopping sells local crafts. Travelers may sit down have a rest or drink a cup of tea if not interested in the local crafts. There is no press on buying.

    Another kind of shopping place is local market, the same one used by local people.
    Travelers may take a simple visit in local market or buy something you need just like a local people.This kind of shopping place include Xiushui Market and Hongqiao Market in Beijing, Nanning Road and Huaihai Road in Shanghai.

  • Evening Activity

    Part of China tour products include evening performance after dinner. A good evening arrangement makes the China trip more pleasant.
    The popular and recommended activity in China include Beijing Opera and Kongfu Show in Beijing, Acrobatic show in Shanghai, as well as Tang Dynasty performance in Xian. Part of China tour products include evening performance
    There is extra cost when travelers need dinner and evening activity after daytime sightseeing. It is around 21:00-22:00 to be back hotel after evening performance.

  • Road and Traffic

    The condition of road in China is getting better. The developing of new road is beyond your expect. You may find road is in very good condition even in Xinjiang or Tibet. But the traffic in downtown is getting heavy, because there are more and more private cars.

    Please leave more extra time when you need to take flight or train. For example, we leave extra one hour as buffer time when travelers need to be transferred to airport. This means picking up travelers at 07:00am to catch a flight at 11:00am.

    It needs more buffer time when your need to take a long time driving or transfer.

  • Package Tour

    Most travelers to China prefer to take package tour. Such as Beijing Xian Shanghai package tour, or Beijing Xian Guilin Shanghai package tour.
    Package tour of China is the best choice when this is a your first trip to China or you need a worry free holiday in China. China package tour covers all service providers in China, such as hotel, flight, train, vehicle, driver, tour guide, admission fee, meal, fuel and parking.

    Most travelers visit one to three attractions in one day trips.
    The one day tour in China include private one day tour and join in group one day tour.
    Private one day tour include private vehicle, driver and private tour guide. You and your family use one whole vehicle.
    Join in group one day tour offers seat in coach. You will share one tour coach with other travelers.

  • Great Wall Tour

    Great Wall tour is available in many cities of China.
    The most famous part of Great Wall and city include:
    - Badaling Great Wall, Mutianyu Great Wall and Jinshanling Great Wall in Beijing
    - Yangguan and Yumenguan Great Wall in Dunhuang
    - Jiayuguan Great Wall
    - Niangziguan Great Wall in Yangquan
    - Jiumenkou Great Wall in Hebei Province
    - Hushan Great Wall in Dandong
    - Dajingmen Great Wall in Dajingmen
    - Great Wall at Shanhaiguan and Laolongtou in Qinqinghuangdao
    - Qi Great Wall in Jinan

    Most travelers visit Great in Beijing. The popular section of Great Wall is Mutianyu, because it is not so crowded as Badaling. Jinshanling Great Wall is suggested when you prefer to stay one night under Great Wall or you are a photographer.

    1.5 to 3 hours on Great Wall is enough for anormal travelers. Part of travelers prefer to take a hiking tour on Great Wall, which takes around 4 to 6 hours. There are some Great Wall fans, they take Great Wall hiking tour around one week from Hebei province to Beijing. This tour needs strong legs of travelers.

    There are cable car at popular pat of Great Wall, such as Badaling Great Wall, Mutianyu Great Wall and Simatai Great Wall. Cable car is not available in unpopular sections of Great Wall, such as Huanghuacheng Great Wall and Gubeikou Great Wall.

  • Bus Tour

    Some travelers prefer to visit China by coach. There are two kinds of bus tour.
    The first kind is called China public bus tour, travelers visit China via public bus, taxi or subway, with or without a local tour guide. Ability of speak or write some Chinese is requested if travelers prefer to use public bus tour.

    The second kind of bus tour is also called join in bus tour or seat in coach tour, which means travelers may join in a tour coach arranged by local tour company. Travelers share the tour coach and English speaking tour guide with other travelers.

    Most travelers take the second kind of bus tour because it is convenient and even less expensive than the 1st kind.

  • Drinking Water

    There are two bottles of water for free in most hotels. Other water or goods needs to be paid.
    We do not suggest travelers to drink tap water, unless you often do this in the past.
    The bottled water can be easily bought in most supermarket.

  • Payment

    Chinese Cash is acceptable by all service providers and travel agent.
    USD is accepted by most travel agent.
    Credit card is acceptable by most hotels in China. Part of licensed tour company or travel agent accept Credit Card.
    Most bank is strict with Credit Card out of China. Part of credit card is not accepted when you pay it on-line.
    Payment via Bank is acceptable by most licensed tour company. The payment takes around 3 to 7 days to reach China.

    If you are planning a long trip to China, we suggest you to pay china tour company in advance via bank. It is not necessary to take so much cash with you.
    When you take short trip to China, then you may pay some deposit via Bank or Credit Card when upon making reservation. The balance can be paid in cash in China.

    • Phone Card and VPN

      It is suggested to buy a local phone card, which is convenient to connect with your family via phone or Internet. You may ask help from your tour advisor on this and provide scanned copy of your passport. It is not a good idea to apply a car in the business hall of Telecom.

      It is necessary to have a VPN before departure from your country if you prefer to visit facebook, twitter, youtube or google.

    • Tibet Tour and Tibet Entry Permission

      Tibet Entry Permission is needed if you do not have ID Card of China mainland. This document is suggested to be applied from the Tibet Tourism Bureau one month in advance. It will be delivered to your fist landing city of China. Then you can take the entry permission to take flight to Tibet.
      There is a cost of the permission, most travel agent cover this in the tour cost, like we do.
      When you book a Tibet tour, your travel agent will take care the entry permission. The following information as well as scanned copy of your passport and Visa page are needed:

      :
      - F visa holders (visitors) should provide invitation letter issued by the company you will visit.
      - D visa holders (live and work in China) should provide a proof of working or residence.
      - X visa holders (student) should provide a certificate from your school or university.
      - All information should be exactly same with your passport.br/> - Journalist government officials and diplomats should get Tibet Entry Permission from Foreign Affairs Office of Tibet Government, instead of a Travel Agent.
      - Travel agent do not accept entry permission order separately; it should be part of travel service.
      - Tibet Entry Permission is only available for single entry of Tibet.
      - The permission should be in your hand when you take flight or train.

    • Chinese Visa

      It is not available to get Chinese visa after arrival. Chinese visa is needed before foreign travelers travel China. You should submit application at Chinese Embassies or Chinese Visa Service Center.
      Make sure your passport validity is above 6 months and at least two blank pages available and prepare the following document:
      - Your passport copy with photo.
      - Chinese passport you got in the past.
      - Chinese visa you got in the past.
      - Your recent photo with light background.
      - Residential proof.
      - Application form.
      - Double way flight.
      - Invitation letter of hotel confirmation.

      The document requested is different according to country and city, please reconfirm this with the embassy before submit.
      Group visa is available when there are more than 5 travelers organized by travel agent.

      What should i do if lost Visa ?

      It is a bad experience to got your visa lost. Follow the following steps when there is no other choice.
      - Inform this to your hotel reception to see if other travelers found it and put it at reception. You will get a "Occupancy Certification" from the hotel if the visa can not be found.
      - Go to the nearest police station as early as possible to report the situation. You will get two useful document "Record Certification" and "Loss Certification".
      - Take the document of police and hotel, then go to the Immigration Office(PSB, 出入境办公室). You will get another document named lost 'evidence'.
      - Take all document to the embassy of your country to apply a new passport. And take all document and the new visa to PSB to get a new Chinese visa.

    • Customs Regulations

      Travelers should submit two copies of baggage declaration form. One of them should be showed upon exit.
      Things of personal use of limited amount is duty free, such as food, watches, camera, etc. It but be bought back after traveling.
      Foreign Cash or traveler check can be taken in, and the rest of the money can be taken out after travelling.
      Articles not allowed in: Arms, ammunition, explosives, Radio transmitters-receivers and principal parts, drug, infected with germs or pests, anything regarded as harmful to China or prohibited by China regulation.
      Articles not allowed out:Arms, ammunition, explosives, Radio transmitters-receivers and principal parts, Chinese currency, precious article material or creature, anything prohibited by China regulation.

    • Foreign Exchange

      The money exchange is available in airport or at the reception of many hotels. It is not suggested to exchange money with people near your hotel.

    • Climate and Clothing

      China has a continental and seasonal climate. The south end is located in the tropical or subtropical zone, such as Shansha, Sanya and Haikou of Hannan. It is hot all year round, without winter. The north end is located in the frigid zone.
