History
The history of Hongqiao Market can be traced back to 1979, since Reform and Opening Up start in China. The local people bring their farm products in to the city, which makes a street of Chongwen District came into a bazaar, around 800 meters. The good quality and low price makes the bazaar very popular in local peopel. The products expanded to clothing, shoes, hats, furniture and other daily necessities.
With the quantity increasing of the vendors and buyers, the traffic got affected.
The fist Hongqiao Market Building was completed. In 1995, a three floor building was constructed. The business area and products range were both expanded. Aquatic products, fresh meat and other commodities are provided in Hongqiao Market.
