Beijing Capital International Airport is located in Shunyi District, about 32 kilometers northeast of downtown Beijing. The airport is the main hub for Air China, China Eastern Airlines, Hainan Airlines and China Southern Airlines. It is the busiest and most important international airport in China. Since 2010, Beijing Capital Airport has been the most busiest airport in Asia and the second busiest airport in the world.

Beijing Capital International Airport Index
Beijing Capital International Airport was opened to public in March 2, 1958. It was the first Civil Aviation Airport in the period of the People's Republic of China. The airport then consisted of one small terminal building, mainly used for the charter flights and VIP Passengers.
In January 1, 1980, the newly built Terminal 1 and it's auxiliary project, like apron, parking lot, was put into use.
In 1995, the Terminal 2 was began to built and opened in 1999. This terminal can handle 16,500,000 passengers every year. At the same time, the Terminal 1 was closed and re-opened in 2004 after renovation.
In the spring of 2008, the Terminal 3 completed construction. This terminal take the 60% of the passengers handling capacity of Capital Airport.
In 2012, the passengers handling capacity reached 73,770,000. The airport became the second busiest airport in the world, behind the Atlanta Airport in the United States.

From April 15th, 2015, passengers who take international or regional flights to other countries or regions via Capital Airports and stay in Capital Airports for less than 24 hours without leaving limited area can be exempted from border inspection formalities. The ground service personnel will collect passenger information.
