History
-
Dajingmen Pass was built in 1644 during the Qing Dynasty(1644-1911). From the Ming Dynasty, the border trade market was gradually formed outside of the Dajingmen area. This area became the inland port of international barter trade in North China. The livestock, fur, medicinal herbs, wool and silver from Mongolia and Europe were changed into silk, tea, porcelain and white sugar here. Bounded by the Dajingmen Great Wall, the aliens only can trade outside the pass. Dajingmen means "border door".
Construction
-
The construction of Dajingmen Great Wall adopted the traditional Great Wall building techniques. The foundation is made of large stones, and the wall is built with bricks and rammed earth, which is firm and durable. The design of the pass fully considers the military needs, with narrow entrances and exits, and hidden shooting holes and observation posts. The unique geographical environment also influenced the construction, as the wall follows the terrain, winding up and down along the mountains, showing the wisdom and skills of ancient Chinese builders.
After several repairs and renovations in history, Dajingmen has maintained its original appearance while ensuring its structural stability.
