      Construction

    • Hushan Great Wall was built using local materials, mainly stones and bricks. The construction techniques were highly sophisticated, adapting to the steep and rugged mountain terrain. The wall is built along the ridge of Hushan, following the natural contours of the mountains, which not only enhances its defensive capabilities but also creates a unique and spectacular landscape.
The foundation of the wall is made of large stones, ensuring stability on the uneven ground. The walls themselves are constructed with bricks, bonded with a special mortar made of lime, sand, and glutinous rice paste, which gives them extraordinary strength and durability. The design of the wall includes ramparts, parapets, and drainage systems, all of which reflect the advanced engineering skills of the Ming Dynasty.
During the restoration process, great care was taken to use traditional techniques and materials to maintain the original appearance of the wall. Experts conducted extensive research to ensure that the restoration work was in line with historical records and archaeological findings, preserving the historical integrity of Hushan Great Wall.
