    Why got its this name

  • The Temple Theatre was first built in 1688 in-situ of the temple. The name Zhengyi Temple Theatre origins from the God it enshrines.
Some said that Zhengyi Temple Theatre has relationships with Taoism. In Han dynasty, there is Zhengyi Tao, which was established by Zhang Daoling. Zhang Daoling was honored Master Zhengyi. The God enshrined in the Temple Theatre should be Master Zhengyi.
Some said that there was a tradition to enshrine Marshal Zhengyi, who is the Fortune God. Who the Temple Theatre enshrines should be Marshal Zhengyi.
In the two statements, there was Zhengyi. And thus the temple got its name.
