Introduction

    • The residence was first built in Kang Xi Period in Qing dynasty. It was once the mansion of the great scholar Ming Zhu. In Qian Long Period, it was the yard of He Shen. In Jia Qing Period, it was the garden of Prince Cheng. Later, it was the garden of Emperor Guang Xu's father. In the end of Qing dynasty, it was the garden of the last emperor Pu Yi's father. From 1963 to 1981, Song Qingling had been lived and worked here for 18 years till she died. The sceneries are perfect.

    About Song Qingling

  • As one of the leadership in the construction of New China and Sun Yat-Sen's wife, Song Qingling joined the Chinese revolution from her youth till she died. She struggled for Sun Yat-Sen's career of saving the country and her own career on the pursuit of a free and equal China. She also poured a lot of effort on the cultural and educational welfare of women and children.

      History

    • This place was originally the garden of Zaifeng, Prince Chun and father of the last emperor Aisin Gioro Puyi. The mansion of Prince Chun, later known as the Regent's Mansion, also included the group of buildings on the eastern side of the garden. The mansion was first built during the Kangxi reign as the residence of Mingzhu. It was turned into the second residence of Heshen during the Qianlong years, and became the mansion of Prince Cheng in the Jiaqing reign and the mansion of Prince Chun in the 14th year of Emperor Guangxu.
      After the founding of the People's Republic of China, the Party and government intended to build a residence for Soong Ching Ling. But she repeatedly declined on the excuse that state affairs were more important. Later, personally overseen by Premier Zhou Enlai, it was decided to have this old garden in the former prince's mansion repaired and renovated and a new two-storied ancient-style building put up as the main building. Clear water now flows through it and there are rockeries, flowers, trees and green grass everywhere with buildings and pavilions among them. It is a quiet and elegant residence. Soong Ching Ling moved here in 1963, worked, studied and lived here until she died on May 29, 1981. In October the same year, the place was named "Former Residence of Comrade Soong Ching Ling, Honorary Chairman of the People's Republic of China" and listed as a major historical and cultural site under state protection. It has been opened to public since May 29, the following year.

      Marui There are four exhibition halls in the residence. Most of the exhibitions are pictures. At the entrance, there is a bonsai planted by Emperor Qian Long in Qing dynasty. Song Qingling loved to take photos with friends here.
      Pandayuer It is an elegant place. There is history and scenery. There is also a swing in the yard, which is quite cute.
