China Railway Museum is a professional science and technology museum of China railway system. It now has three branch exhibition sites: Zhengyangmen Museum, Dongjiao Museum and Zhan Tianyou Memorial Hall. Each museum has its own characteristics. And all these three museums are all playing their functions as protecting our railway historical heritage, popularizing railway technology literacy knowledge, advocating railway construction achievements.
Dongjiao Site of China Railway Museum is the main one. It mainly exhibits locomotives and rolling stock. Here visitors can see lots of vintage locomotives and advanced trains.

- The predecessor of China Railway Museum is the Science and Technology Museum of China railway system, which was established in 1978. It was held by Ministry of Railway of People's Republic of China. The main task at the beginning of the establishment of the museum is to carry out the plan of cultural film and television, exhibitions, making models and other work.

- At present, 50 renovated locomotives are shown in the museum, spanning from 1881 to 1993. Of which 28 are steam locomotives, 8 are diesel locomotives, one is electric locomotive, 7 are passenger vehicles and 9 are trucks. There is the earliest locomotive in China, successful locomotives which were named after Mao Zedong, Zhu De and etc, and various types of steam locomotives manufactured in British, American, Japanese, Russia, Belgium and other countries at different times. The diesel locomotives include the first generation of "Dongfeng" electric drive trunk freighter and the first generation of "Shaoshan" electric locomotive made in China. The passenger vehicles include old-fashioned dedicated trains, official trains of national leaders and different types of locomotives for seating, sleeping, dining and luggage. These exhibits are the epitome of the development of China's railway traction power and the historical witness of China's railway from backward to modern.

"0" Steam Locomotive
The "0" Steam Locomotive is the oldest locomotive preserved in China at present. It was used in the early Tangxu Railway (Tangshan-Yanggezhuang) in China. It was built in 1882 by the British Scottish Locomotive Works, also known as the "four-wheeled" locomotive.

"Mao Zedong" Steam Locomotive
The "Mao Zedong" Steam Locomotive is a revolutionary cultural relic with important commemorative significance. On October 30, 1946, The JF304 locomotive was named as the "Mao Zedong" Locomotive, Approved by Northeast Bureau of the CPC Central Committee. JF304 locomotive was completed its historical mission and was retired in the Fengtai Locomotive Depot on January 27, 1977, after operation of more than 30 years. "Mao Zedong" Locomotive has been replaced by Dongfeng Type 4-0002, 1893 of Dongfeng 4B Type and 1893 of Dongfeng 4D diesel locomotive, all produced by Dalian Locomotive Works.

Manufacturing year: 1941 KF1-006 Steam Locomotive KF1-006 Steam Locomotive was designed by China's railway technology expert, Ying Shangcai, according to the Chinese railway standard in 1933. Since the Chinese railway factory was unable to manufacture locomotives, the British Vulcan Locomotive Factory won the bid and manufactured the locomotives in 1936. The KF1-006 Steam Locomotives are large passenger and cargo locomotives. The locomotive in China Railway Museum - Dongjiao Museum is the only remaining one of this type in China. Only two KF1 locomotives are kept in the world.
