  • Building A
  • Building A was opened in 1957, covering an area of 20,000 square meters. It is the first large-scale planetarium in China and also in Asia. There is a Foucault pendulum reflecting the rotation of the earth in the middle of the Entrance Hall. On the west to the Entrance Hall is exhibition hall for Starry Night and the east is lecture hall, where academic exchanges and reports on popularizing astronomical science knowledge are often held. There are two observatories in the courtyard. One of them is equipped with a telescope of 13 centimeters. You can observe sunspots during the day and the moon, planets, nebulae, and star clusters in night with it. The other observatory is equipped with a chromosphere telescope, which can be used to observe and photograph changes in the solar chromosphere. There is an Astronomical Plaza on the west side, where outdoor observation instruments displays.
The Planetarium Hall in the Building A is the largest horizontal space hall in mainland China. It can hold 400 audiences and has the world's most advanced equipments. Zeiss lenses optical planetarium and IMAX digital projection system with the world's highest resolution can not only vividly restore more than 9,000 stars visible to the naked eye on the earth, but also realize many functions such as virtual astronomical demonstration, three-dimensional cosmic space simulation, and digital program broadcasting.

    • Building B
    • Building B was open in 2004. There are three theaters, the Cosmic Theater, 4D Theater, 3D theater, some exhibition halls, solar observatory, public observatory, and astronomy classroom in the building. Among them, the Cosmos Theater with a diameter of 18 meters has a standard hemispherical full-sky screen, which can simultaneously present a magnificent three-dimensional sky screen effect to 200 audiences. This is unique in mainland China.
The 4D Theater is located on the second floor and can accommodate 200 audiences. The special polarized stereo glasses are needed when watching the film. The special effects will be produced such as spraying water and wind, lightning, stabbing back, slapping legs, and so on.
The 3D Theater is located on the basement floor. It is a small stepped IMAX cinema. The screen is 12 meters wide and 9 meters high. The advanced equipments make the pictures real and clear.
    • Main Exhibitions
    • Travel in the Universe The Exhibition of Travel in the Universe is on the first floor of the Building B. The exhibition contents include Solar System Family, Moon and Meteorite, Universe Mystery, Colorful Universe, Telescope, Binary Stars, Cosmic Lighthouse, Sun and game.
The exhibition combines intuitive demonstrations with interactive experience and presents profound astronomical knowledge in an interesting and story-oriented way. It creates an atmosphere of landing on the moon, Traveling in the space and exploring universe in an abstract space, inspiring the audience's enthusiasm for exploring the mysteries of the universe. The exhibition takes the stars around us as a starting point, and gradually deeps into the universe to learn about the moon, planets, and the space beyond the solar system, even the unsolved mysteries of the universe.
    • Universe Shuttle The Exhibition of Universe Shuttle is located on the basement floor of the Building B. The exhibition contents include Cosmic Evolution, Cosmic Distance Scale, Extrasolar Planets, Gravitational Lens, Fly by Black Hole, Cosmic Structure, and Space-time Shuttle.
A narrative viewing process is designed for the audience in this exhibition. The process includes three parts, knowledge preparation, selection and assessment, and shuttle experience. The audience can become a member of a space-time shuttle through learning and assessment. Guided by the shuttle, the members will watch several typical stages of the evolution of the universe. During the viewing process, the team members will drive the shuttle to experience these special situations in the form of interactive games. They need cooperation and competition in the games.
    • Cosmic View The Exhibition of Cosmic View is on the second floor of the Building B. The pictures of some deep-sky objects are displayed here, such as galaxies, star clusters, and nebulas. These deep-sky objects are far away from us, up to billions of light years away.
