Detailed Itinerary

  • Day 1. Arrive in Beijing  

  • Arrive at Beijing airport. Be picked up by private vehicle of Beijingservice.com and transferred to hotel for checking in. Remainder of the day is at leisure. You may take a leisure walk near hotel if time permit.

  • Day 2. Beijing: Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, Beijing Hutong  

  • Tour guide will pick you up from hotel lobby at 08:30 am.
    Drive to visit Tiananmen Square. This is the biggest downtown Square of the world. Travelers may take a stroll in the square to take a quick outside view of 'Monument of People's Hero', 'Great Wall of the People', and 'Memorial Hall of Chairman Mao'.
    We will walk to the north end of the square and enter the Forbidden City after walking through the Tiananmen Rostrum and Wumen Gate.
    Located at the center of Beijing, Forbidden City also named as Palace Museum. It was the imperial palace during the Ming(1368-1644) and Qing(1636-1912) dynasties. The three main buildings in the front section work as the emperor's office, and the buildings behind were used for the residence of the emperor and his concubines. We will visit Forbidden City along the central axis from south to north for 1.5 to 2 hours.
  • Then we will drive to visit Temple of Heaven. In Ming and Qing Dynasty, the emperor will come to Temple of Heaven to pray for ample harvests and good weather. Many buildings in Temple of Heaven features the relationship between Heaven and Earth. Tour guide of Beijingservice.com will show you the interesting Tianxin Stone(Central Heaven Stone) and the echoing wall. The sightseeing time is about one hour.
    Drive 30 minutes to discover old section of the city - Beijing Hutong. Most hutongs were formed by local courtyard 200 to 800 years ago. It is the best place to touch the daily life of old Beijing people. The unique experience of man-powered rickshaw is arranged.
    Return to hotel after the sightseeing.

  • Day 3. Beijing: Ming Tombs, Badaling Great Wall  

  • Start the tour from hotel lobby at 08:30am. Drive 1.5 hours to visit Ming Tombs. With a history of 600 years, Ming Tomb is the final resting place of 13 Ming Dynasty emperors. Each emperor has a separate tomb, so it got another name Thirteen Ming Tombs. We will visit the largest one of them - Changling Tomb. The main hall of Chang Ling is the largest structure of phoebe wood in China.
  • After lunch in a nice restaurant, we will drive to visit Great Wall of China. Originally built to protect the country from northern invaders, Great Wall of China was built between the 7th century BC and 17th century BC. Today we will visit Great Wall of Badaling Section. This part of Great Wall was built in 1505 during the Ming Dynasty. Being one of the best preserved section of Great Wall closed to Beijing, Badaling Great Wall is favored by most travelers. Take sightseeing on Badaling Great Wall for about 2 hours.
    Drive back to downtown Beijing and complete the day trip in hotel.

  • Day 4. Beijing: Summer Palace, Lunch. Fly to Xian  Reach Xian.  

  • Day 4. Beijing: Summer Palace, Lunch, Beijing-Xian Start the tour from your hotel at 08:30am. Drive 40 minutes to Summer Palace. Covering 2.9 square kilometers with mountain and lake, Summer Palace was a imperial garden first built by emperor Qianlong in 1750. The man-made buildings covers pavilions, halls, palace and bridges, which perfectly combines the natural landscape. The sightseeing time in Summer Palace is about 1 to 1.5 hours.
    After lunch in local restaurant, you will be transferred airport for flight to Xian.
  • After reaching Xian, you will be met from Xian airport and transferred to hotel in Xian.

  • Day 5. Terracotta, Huaqing Hot Spring, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, Tang Dynasty Show  

  • Today, we will visit the 8th wonder of the world - Terracotta Warriors and Horses.
    You will be met from hotel lobby at 08:30am, and then drive 1 to 1.5 hours to Terracotta Warriors in Lintong. More than 6000 different looking warriors depict the history of the Qin Dynasty from 221 BC-206 BC.
  • Then we will drive to visit Huaqing Pool, which served as imperial garden and hot-spring of Tang Dynasty.
    Drive back to downtown Xian to visit Forest of Stone Steles. Located in a classical Chinese courtyard, the museum offers the oldest and richest collection of stone steles in China. It is also a good place to touch Chinese calligraphy. If lucky enough, you may find the staff work on Stele Rubbing.
    Move on to visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Originally built in 652 of Tang Dynasty, the pagoda was built to store Buddhist materials taken from India by the Master Xuanzang. Now, the pagoda is Landmark of Xian.
  • After dinner in a nice local restaurant, we will drive to theater to enjoy Tang Dynasty Show. The performance was originated from the Tang dynasty one thousand years ago. The musicians present music with Tang-dynasty-style musical instruments. You will enjoy a national art that reflects the glory and richness of the Tang Dynasty era.
    Be transferred back to hotel after the whole day tour.

  • Day 6. Shaanxi History Museum, Great Mosque and Bazaar, City Wall, Drum Tower and Square

    Drive to visit the Shaanxi History Museum. Built in a complex with Tang Dynasty style, it is the first huge state museum with modern facilities in China. Covering 65000 square meters, the museum houses over 300,000 items including murals, paintings, pottery, coins, as well as bronze, gold, and silver objects.
    Then we will drive to visit Great Mosque. The Mosque was built in a style of Chinese courtyard with strong traditional Chinese architectural features. It serves as an important spot for religious activities of over 60,000 Muslims in Xian.
  • Move on to visit Muslim Quarter. It is the Muslim community located in downtown Xian. Instead of one street, Muslim Quarter covers several blocks. More than 20000 Muslims are making their living in this area. Muslim food and souvenir market are thriving in Muslim Quarter. Local people consider it as a snack street to spend leisure time.
    Drive to visit Xian Ancient City Wall, which is the best preserved, oldest and largest ancient city defense system in China. Built in 1370, the wall is located in downtown of the city and work as a landmark to divide the city into inner part and outer part.
    At the end of the day, we will drive to visit Drum Tower and Square. This is a good place to find the local people to spend leisure time.

  • Day 7. Xian - Lhasa, Transfer to Xian Airport  Reach Lhasa, Nietang Buddha  

  • Be met from hotel of Xian and transfer to Xianyang airport to connect flight to Lhasa.
    Be met from Lhasa Gongga airport by private local tour guide and vehicle.
    We will visit the Nietang Buddha on the way from airport to your hotel in downtown Lhasa.
    Nietang Buddha is named after Mt. Nietang, which is located 40 km southwest of Lhasa City. Nietang Buddha is the biggest stone statue engraved on a cliff. This is the first attraction to welcome visitors to Lhasa and Tibet.

    Drive to downtown Lhasa to check in Hotel. Remainder of the days is at leisure to adapt yourself to the plateau climate and pressure..

  • Day 8. Lhasa: Potala Palace, Sera Monastery, Norbulingka Park  

  • Start the amazing Lhasa day tour from your hotel lobby at 09:00am. Drive to visit the most famous attraction in Tibet - Potala Palace. It is famous for grand buildings, complicated constructions, splendid artworks as well as the strong religious atmosphere. The excellent murals on inner walls are highlights of the sightseeing.
  • Move on to visit Sera Monastery, which was built in 1419. Being one of the three largest monasteries of Gelugpa, Sera Monastery houses many original murals maintained in perfect condition.
    Drive to visit Norbulingka Park. Built in 1751 during the reign of the seventh Dalai Lama, Norbulingka Park was served as a summer palace for the Dalai Lama where they handled political affairs and practiced religious activities.

  • Day 9. Lhasa: Drepung Monastery, Jokhang Temple, Tibetan Museum, Barkhor Street.  

  • You will be met from hotel lobby at 09:00am.
    Drive to visit Drepung Monastery. Known as the most important monastery of Gelugpa in Tibetan Buddhism. Established in 1416, Drepung Monastery houses many cultural relics,such as Statues of Manjushri Bodhisattva, and Sitatapatra found on the first storey of the Coqen Hall, rare sutras on the second storey and Jamyang Qoigyi's conch shell given by Tsong Khapa on the third storey.
    Then we will visit the Jokhang Temple. The monastery is a four-storey timber complex with a golden top. It features architectural styles of the Tang Dynasty, Tibet and Nepal. Travelers may find the treasure from inner China and Nepal.
  • After lunch in local restaurant, we will visit Tibetan Museum. The museum shows the splendid culture and long history of Tibetan nationality from the aspects of history, culture, art, religion and folk customs.
    Move on to visit a thriving local bazaar - Barkhor Street. Tibetan culture, economy, religion and arts assemble in this area. Many Buddhist pilgrims walk clockwise around Barkhor Street, chanting the holy Buddhist mantra.

    Drive to visit Yu Garden. Being a famous Suzhou-style garden in Shanghai, Yu garden covers pavilions, halls, chambers, towers, ponds and rockeries, etc. The local market at the gate of Yu garden is called Yu Garden. Traverlers can find plenty of local products and get in touch of local Shanghai bazaar.
    Then we will visit Jade Buddha Temple. Built in 1882, Jade Buddha Temple is famous for the 2 jade statues of the Sakyamuni Buddha, ancient sculptures, rare paintings and Buddhist scriptures.
  • After lunch in a nice local restaurant, we will drive to Oriental Pearl TV Tower to take a bird view of Shanghai.
    Then we will visit Nanjing Road. Being called the First Business Street of China, Nanjing Road offers over 600 businesses, countless famous brands, superior quality, and new fashions.
    Move on to visit the Bund. Being a famous waterfront, The bund offers various old buildings in different architectural styles including Gothic, Baroque, Romanesque, Classicism and the Renaissance. It is also available to watch the new Skyscrapers of new Pudong area across the Huangpu River. This is a good place to experience the intersection of old and new Shanghai.
