Introduction

    • China National Post and Postage Stamp Museum was enlarged from the Material Room of the Postage Stamp Office which belonged to the Post and Telecommunications Ministry in July 1985. It collects all postage stamps of Qing dynasty, Republic of China, Anti-Japan War period, the beginning of the establishment of People's Republic of China, Cultural Revolution, period after the Opening and Reform. There are few visitors. The first stamp in the world Black Coin and the first stamp in China Big Dragon are all collected in the Museum.

    Architecture and Layout

  • China National Post and Postage Stamp Museum aims at collecting and making full use of the antiquities of the post and stamps to do academic researches and to exchange ideas. The museum shows the audience the origin and development of China Post ， and exhibits the rich and colorful Chinese and foreign stamps.
    The museum has 4,500 square meters exhibition halls and 1,000 square meters store rooms for the abundant and fine postal antiquities. The collection consists of the stamps issued by the responsible postal services in the different historical periods since the Qing Dynasty and also the stamps from over 200 countries and regions. The amount increases to more than 300,000 kinds of stamps , totaling up to over 100,000,000 pieces.

    First Floor Service Lobby

    The Souvenir Shop, Lounge Room and Information Desk are located on this floor. On the south end of the Lobby is the Post Office.

    Second Floor Main Stamp Gallery and Special Stamp Gallery

    Main Stamp Gallery The stamps collected here were issued by the responsible postal services in the different historical periods since the pilot scheme run by the Customs post in the Qing Dynasty, and part of the stamps from the member countries of Universal Postal Union.
    Special Stamps Gallery The original paintings designed and drawn by Chinese modern artists and stamp designers are shown here in rotation.

    Third Floor Primitive Communications, Ancient Post and Modern Postal Service Gallery

    The objects, charts, landscapes and models exhibited here demonstrate the history of China Post: the development and extinction from exchanging articles to using courier stations, the rise and development of private letter offices, invasions of alien posts, the hardship in the creation of postal service in the modern Chinese history such as the pilot scheme run by the Customs post in the Qing Dynasty and the setting up of the National Postal Service agreed by Emperor Guangxue, the establishment, development and decline of Chinese postal service, the creation and important contributions made by the red post service in the war duration to the Chinese people's revolutionary cause, etc.

    Fourth Floor Modern Postal Service Gallery and Treasure Gallery

    Modern Postal Service Gallery The collections have demonstrated the progress made from the foundation of Directorate General of Post to the establishment of China Courier Service Corporation since 1949, and reflect a dedicated, innovative and continuous developing image of China Post for nearly 60 years.
    Treasure Gallery The collected precious and rare stamps, stamp manuscripts and original engravings in the different historical periods are on display here in rotation.
