The layout mirrors China’s geographical diversity, with northern ethnic zones in the north section and southern groups in the south.
Main Exhibition Halls
-
Main Exhibition Hall in the South Park
This hall represents some theme exhibitions that reflect the production, life, and cultural and historical remains of Chinese ethnic groups. The exhibitions cover aspects such as ancestral halls, post houses, boatyards, boudoirs, study rooms, and baby - breeding rooms. With an exhibition area of 6,000 square meters, it offers an exhibition named “Common People – Our History and Our Root,” which is divided into 14 areas. Over 3,000 exhibits in this hall reflect the culture of ordinary Chinese people.
Ethnic Exhibition Villages
Each ethnic group is represented by a village in the park, which is built in a 1:1 ratio to the real ethnic villages. For example, in the South Park, there are ethnic villages of the Bai, Yao, Zhuang, Tujia, and other ethnic groups. The triple tower of Dali in the South Park is a replication of a tower in Chongsheng Temple at a ratio of 0.7:1. Jianchuan Grottoes is an imitation of Shi Zhongshan Grottoes in Jianchuan County, Yunnan Province, and the opera stage of the Bai is a copy of an ancient stage located in Shaxi Town, Jianchuan County of Yunnan Province.
In the North Park, there are 16 ethnic villages, including those of the Tibetan, Miao, Yi, Dong, and Taiwan Gaoshan ethnic groups. These ethnic exhibition villages feature independent architectural buildings of each ethnic group and are rich in ethnic culture connotation. Visitors can walk in the courtyards, streets, or dams of these villages, enjoying the trees, flowers, and crops planted according to the environmental features of the ethnic groups.
