Brief:
Beijing Ming City Wall Ruins Park is located in the city center. From the east part of the southeast watchtower to the west part of Chongwenmen, the whole park covers about 15.5 hectares, in which 12.2 hectares are green areas. The city wall in Ming dynasty is about 40 km long. First built in 1419, the city wall has more than 580 years' histories. The rare preserved old town bricks will bring you retro feel.
Protection of the Ming City Wall:
Beijing Ming City Wall Ruins Park is badly damaged by human behaviors and is worn down by the years without repair. To protect the cultural relics and represent Beijing image, the government decides to repair and rebuild the park.
The new Ming City Wall Ruins Park is built to protect the city wall and show the real face of the city wall. It provides a quiet, natural, quaint environment for Beijing citizens. Green belts are the main part of the park.
Ming City Wall Ruins Park is also one of the place to hold large mass cultural activities. In 2003, Ming City Wall Ruins Park successfully held the first Beijing Ming City Wall Cultural and Sports Festival and International fair for investment and trade.
Opening Hours:
08:00 - 17:30
Cate:
Ming City Wall Ruins are one of the existing two Ming City Wall groups. It is the symbol of the historical development of Beijing. The southeast watchtower is the National Key Cultural Protection Relic unit. The city wall ruins are also Beijing cultural protection units. The park highlights beauty of the incomplete. Walking in the park in the shadow of the ancient trees, Ming city wall and the serious watchtower seem to be telling you the ethnic changes.
