Dajingmen Pass was built in 1644 during the Qing Dynasty(1644－1911). It is one of four great passes of China Great Wall. The great wall was the key road connecting inner China and frontier fortress. It was the north gate through the Capital Beijing.
Dajingmen Pass was built in 1644 during the Qing Dynasty(1644－1911). From the Ming Dynasty, the border trade market was gradually formed outside of the Dajingmen area. This area became the inland port of international barter trade in North China. The livestock, fur, medicinal herbs, wool and silver from Mongolia and Europe were changed into silk, tea, porcelain and white sugar here. Bounded by the Dajingmen Great Wall, the aliens only can trade outside the pass. Dajingmen means "border door".
ContructionThe gate of the Dajingmen Pass of Great Wall is 12 metres high, 9 metres wide, and 13 metres long in bass. There is a terrace above the gate, with 12 meters long and 7.5 meters wide. There are 1.7-meter-high crenels on outer side of the wall and 0.8-meter-high parapet on the inside.
The four Chinese characters "Magnificent Rivers and Mountains" was inscribed over the lintel, written in 1927 by Gao Weiyue, the ruler of the Chahar at that time(now Inner Mongolia). To the west of the gate, the geat wall, built with hard rock, winds on the mountains.
