Detailed Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival
Arrive in Xian.
Be met from airport by private vehicle and be transferred to hotel for checking in. Remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 2. Shannxi History Museum, Former Residence of Yuyouren, Xian Ancient City Wal, Shuyuanmen Street.

Drive to visit Shannxi History Museum. Shannxi History Museum is the first huge state museum with modern facilities in China, featuring an architectural style of the Tang Dynasty. It is the best cultural heritage of Shaanxi Province and shows the systematic development process of Chinese civilization. The museum houses over 300,000 items including murals, paintings, pottery, coins, as well as bronze, gold, and silver objects.

Move on to visit Former Residence of Yuyouren. Former Residence of Yuyouren is the residence of Yu Youren in Xian before 1949 when he move to Taiwan. Yu Youren was born in 1879 during the Qing Dynasy. He had been a senior official in the National Government for many years and was also a modern Chinese calligrapher. The former residence is a three-courtyard house of brick and wood structure, with residential features of Guanzhong area. The exhibition shows a legendary life of Yu Youren and his artistic achievements in poetry and calligraphy.

Then visit Xian City Wall. With a history of 600 years, Xian City Wall is the oldest, largest and best preserved city wall of China. It was used to be an important military defensive system to fortify the city. The Ancient City Wall boasts the gates, tunnels and watch towers. The South Gate and North Gate are the two main entrances to the inner city.

Visit Shuyuanmen Street. Shuyuanmen Street is a pedestrian street from Stele Forest Museum to the gate of Guanzhong Academy. On both side are all antique building. There is a high archway(pailou) with ancient style at the entrance of the street.

Be transferred to hotel after the tour.

Day 3.Terracotta Warriors Museum, Huaqing Pool, Former Residence of Zhangxueliang.

Drive to visit Terracotta Warriors and Horse Museum. Terracotta Warriors is the Eighth Wonder of the World, because of its historical significance and uniqueness. It is the a form of funerary art buried with Emperor Qin Shihuang, the first unifier of China dating back to 210 BC. More than 6,000 different looking pottery figures depict the history of the Qin Dynasty from 221 BC-206 BC. Every figure differs from those around in facial features and expression, clothing, hairstyle, and gestures. 130 chariots with 520 horses and 150 cavalry horses are scatted in three excavated pits.

Then visit Huaqing Pool. First built in Qin Dynasty and enlarged in the Han Dynasty and the Tang Dynasty, Huaqing Pool had been used as a hot spring site for over 6000 years and royal gardens for 3000 years.
Many anecdotes are related to the pool,especially the love story between the Emperor Xuan Zong and his favorite concubine Yang. The site was also the scene of the 1936 Xi'an Incident.

Visit Former Residence of Zhangxueliang. Zhang Xueliang is a warlord in China who promoted re-cooperation between KMT and CPC during the period of Anti-Japanese War. From September of 1935 to December of 1936, Zhang Xueliang and his family had been lived in Xian. The Former Residence of Zhangxueliang is a three-story building with Western-style. The wall was built in brickes. The Xi'an Incident of December 1936 was planed and launched in this residence.

Day 4. Stele Museum, Memorial Hall of Yanghucheng, Bell and Drum Tower, Big Wild Goose Pagoda, local park, North Square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda.

Drive to visit Stele Museum. The Stele Forest is the largest stone stele library in China with 3000 steles in the museum. Most of the steles are from the Han Dynasty, the Tang Dynasty and the successive dynasties. Covering an area of 31,000 square meters, the building of museum a classical courtyard styled.

Then visit Memorial Hall of Yanghucheng. Memorial Hall of Yanghucheng was built in the former residence of Yanghucheng, a general in northwestern China. Yanghucheng, together with Zhangxueliang, launched Xi'an Incident and forced Chiang Kai-shek to make a truce with the Communist Party. The former residence of Yanghucheng is a traditional antique houses. The Memorial Hall consists of 7 exhibition rooms, recording the combat life of the general with large number of historical photographs.

Move on to visit Bell and Drum Tower. With an area of 1377sqm and a height of 40m, Xian Bell Tower is one of the grandest of its kind. The Tower is an exquisitely constructed wooden architecture and houses a number of large bronze-cast bells from the Tang Dynasty.
Located northwest of the Bell Tower, Drum Tower is the biggest drum in China at present. Built in the Ming Dynasty, the two-storey Drum Tower features an architectural style of the Tang and Qing Dynasties. There is a drum museum with a variety of ancient drums in the Drum Tower.

Big Wild Goose PagodaVisit Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Big Wild Goose Pagoda is a landmark of Xian city. It was first built in 652AD for the storage of Buddhist sutras and figurines. The pagoda is a well-preserved ancient building and a holy place for Buddhists. The present 7-storey Pagoda was built with layers of bricks without any cement in between.

Then visit a local garden to know Shannxi folk custom. This park displays the Shanxi local folk culture with the sculpture art, including the famous Shanxi eight strange folk customs: noodle is like belt, GuoKui is like pot, pepper is a dish, people wear handkerchiefs on their heads, etc.

Visit North Square of Big Wild Goose Pagoda. North Square is located on the foot of Big Wild Goose Pogoda, covering an area of more than 110,000 square meters. It is the square with biggest musical fountain and light fountain and largest-scale sculptures in Aisa. The main attractions in the square include musical fountain, Tang-cultural plaza, gardens and cultural corridor. When lights are lit up at night, the fountain will dance by music. The Big Wild Goose Pagoda looks more attractive in the colorful lights.
