Visit Former Residence of Soong Ching Ling.
- Soong Ching Ling: Born in Shanghai on January 27, 1893, Soong Ching Ling contributed all her life and energy to the cause of the Chinese people's democracy and socialism, to the cause of world peace and human progress. At the early stage of her life, she consistently followed Dr. Sun Yat-sen, a great revolutionary forerunner and devoted her life to the democratic revolution. She was a world renowned great fighter for patriotism, democracy, internationalism and communism. Soong Ching Ling passed away in Beijing at the age of 90 on May 29, 1981.
Proceed to visit the Drum Tower. Drum Tower was first built in 1272 and rebuilt in 1420 and 1593 in the Ming Dynasty. Drum Tower is a two-storey building made of wood. In the 46.7 meters high building, there are one large drum and 24 smaller drums.
Drive to a restaurant to have lunch and a short rest.
After lunch, go to visit the Olympic Park. As the major venue of the 2008 Olympic Games, the Olympic Park contains three areas including the Forest Park in the north, major venue and supporting facilities area in the center and the completed stadiums and the reserved area. The completed stadiums contains the National Stadium (Bird's Nest), National Swimming Center (Water Cube) and the National Indoor Stadium (Folding Fans). Take an outside view of the Olympic Park.
Visit the former residence of Mei Lanfang.
- Mei Lanfang: born in 1894, T'ai-chou, Kiangsu province, China. died August 1961, Peking. Chinese theatrical performer, one of the greatest singer-actor-dancers in Chinese history. He began studying at the Peking Opera at the age of 8 and made his debut onstage at 12, playing a weaving girl. Thereafter he played mostly female roles, becoming especially known.
