Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is located in western suburbs of Shanghai, about 13 kilometres from the city centre. Built in 1907, it is the is the main hub for Shanghai Airlines, China Eastern Airlines, Juneyao Airlines, and Spring Airlines. In 2014, Hongqiao International Airport served a total of 37,960,200 passengers. Now it is the fourth busiest airport in China and the 41th busiest airport in the world.Summary

History
Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport was first built in 1907, as a small military airfield. During the Anti-Japanese War, it was occupied by the Japanese army. After liberation, the airport was rebuilt and had been as a military airport. In 1963, it was on a large scale of reconstruction and expansion and re-opened as civil airport in 1964. Afterwards, Hongqiao International Airport was again expanded in 1984 and 1988.In 1999, almost all international flights in Hongqiao Airport were moved to Pudong Airport. Hongqiao Airport now mainly offers domestic flights, and five cross-border routes with "city-to-city" service to central Tokyo's Haneda Airport, central Seoul's Gimpo Airport, central Taipei's Songshan Airport, Hong Kong's Chek Lap Kok Airport, and Macau's Macau International Airport.
