The Great Wall was built and maintained between the 7th century BC and 17th century BC. It was originally built to protect the empire from northern invaders. The Great Wall stretches through the countryside over deserts, hills and plains for 8,851.8 kilometers.

Juyongguan Great Wall was built during the Ming Dynasty(1368-1644). Situated in a beautiful valley, Juyongguan was once listed as one of the eight best sceneries in Beijing. Buddhist carvings on a stone platform and the "cloud terrace" in the middle of the pass also worth seeing.
