Detailed Itinerary

Day 1. Arrival
Arrive in Beijing.
Be met from airport by private vehicle and be transferred to hotel for checking in. Remainder of the day is at leisure.

Day 2. Outside view of Grand Theater, Tiananmen Square, Forbidden City, Summer Palace. Outside view of Bird Nest and Water Cube.

On the way to visit Tiananmen Square, have an outside view of Grand Theater. Coverign an area of 11.89 million square meters, National Grand Theatre is located in the city center of Beijing, near Tan'anmen Square and Great Hall of the People. Designed by French architect Paul Andreu, the exterior of the theater is a titanium accented glass dome surrounded by artificial lake, like an egg floating on water.

Visit Tiananmen Square. The Tiananmen Square is the largest public square in the world. Surrounded by many well-known cultural and political institutions, the square is the final resting place of Chairman Mao Zedong. The square has witnessed the founding of the People's Republic of China.

Enter the Palace Museum from the north end of Tiananmen Square. Known as Forbidden City, the Palace Museum is a treasure house of Chinese cultural and historical relics. The palace was the exclusive domain of the imperial court for almost 500 years, 24 emperors of Ming and Qing Dynasty. As one of the World Cultural Relics, the palace consists of 90 palaces and courtyards, 980 buildings and 8,704 rooms.

Forbidden City PhotoMove on to visit Summer Palace. The Summer Palace was first built in 1750 by Emperor Qianlong in Qing Dynasty. It covers an area of 2.9 square kilometers, including 70,000 square meters of building space. The Summer Palace perfectly combines the natural landscape of hills and open water with humankind works such as pavilions, halls, palaces and bridges. In 1998, UNESCO included the Summer Palace on its World Heritage List.

Have an outside view of Bird Nest and Water Cube. As the main stadium of the 2008 Olympic Games, the National Stadium, also called Bird's Nest, is located in the southern part of central area of Beijing Olympic Park. The National Stadium was used to hold the Olympic Games, the opening and closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games, track and field events and the Soccer finals.
National aquatics center is one of the landmark constructures during the 2008 Olympic Games. It was the major swimming pool constructed for the 2008 Olympic Games. National aquatics center and National Stadium are separately located on both sides of the northern end of Beijing city central axis and they together form a complete Beijing's image of a historical and cultural city.

Day 3. Mutianyu Great Wall, 798 Art Zone, Wangfujing Street.

Photo of Mutianyu Great WallDrive to visit Mutianyu Great Wall.  Located around 90 km northeast of Beijing, Great Wall was built and maintained between the 7th century BC and 17th century BC. It was originally built to protect the empire from northern invaders. The Great Wall stretches through the countryside over deserts, hills and plains for 8,851.8 kilometers.
Mutianyu section was first built in the mid-6th century. It is the longest fully-restored Great Wall with 22 original style watchtowers. Mutianyu Great Wall features picturesque landscape with 90% forest coverage rate. The scenery in spring and autumn is excellent. Mutianyu Great Wall is not so crowded as Badaling section.

Visit 798 Art Zone. Beijing 798 Art Zone, occupies an area of 0.6 square kilometers, was built based on an old factory, 798 factory. With many art organizations and artists's coming, the zone becomes a well-known center of culture and art in Beijing. Many travelers come to feel the art atmosphere.

Then we will go to Wangfujing Street. Being called the first street or Golden Street, Wangfujing street has a length of around 1.5 km from the Chang'an Street to the China Art Museum. On the famous shopping street, there are three main large shopping centers-Sun Dong An, the Malls of Oriental Plaza, and Beijing Department.

Day 4. Beijing Zoo(Panda), Beijing Hutong(Rickshaw), Xiushui Market, Beijing Roast Duck Dinner, Acrobatic Show

Drive to Beijing Zoo to see Great Panda. Beijing Zoo was built in 1955 on the foundation of Wansheng Garden of the Qing Dynasty. It is now the biggest zoo in China with the largest number of animal species. The highlight of Beijing Zoo is the national treasure-giant panda.

Then we will visit Beijing Hutong. Hutongs are lanes or alleys formed by lines of Siheyuan (a compound with houses around a courtyard). Most of them were built during the Yuan (1206-1368), Ming (1368-1644) and Qing (1644-1908) dynasties surrounding the Forbidden City. Many famous operas and dramas are based on the themes of hutong life. Man-power rickshaw is arranged for you to feel the Hutong of Beijing.

Then visit Xiushui Market. Also called Silk Market or Silk Street Market, it is a shopping center housing 1,700 retail vendors. Except silk and fashion clothes, various kinds of iterms can be bought here.

Then go to taste Beijing Roast Duck and enjoy Chinese Acrobatic Show.
Be transferred back to your hotel after the tour.

Temple of Heaven, Pearl Market/Hongqiao Market, Taste Chinese tea, Sanlitun Village Shopping area.

Drive to visit Temple of Heaven.  Built in 1420 during Ming Dynasty, Temple of Heaven is the best preserved and largest sacrificial building complex in the world. The emperor came to the temple every winter to pray for ample harvests and good weather. Strictly built on the basis of philosophical requirements, the temple in many ways features the relationship between Heaven and Earth.

Move on to go to Hongqiao market. Hongqiao market is located in Hongqiao business area in Chongwen district, with an easy access to famous Temple of Heaven. Except famous pearls, it offers the usual clothes, bags, shoes, binoculars, cameras, coral, electronics, etc.

Taste Chinese tea, enjoy Chinese tea ceremony and have a rest in a local tea house.
China is the hometown and birthplace of Chinese tea.
Being the national drinks of China, tea has a history of four to five thousand years.
Tea culture is one of the specific representative of Chinese culture.

The go to Sanlitun Village Shopping area.
