Beijing Niu Jie Mosque
Origins of the Name "Niu Jie"
Once it was a Megranate Orchard and the residential area of the Megranate Orchard was called Megranate Street. Most of the households here are Muslim Hui People and their beef (which is called "Niu" in Chinese) was extraordinarily tasty. Beef ("Niu" in Chinese) and Megranate ("Liu" in Chinese) sound similar, so Megranate Street was changed into Niu Jie (Niu Street).
